#NewAlbum: Christina Aguilera – Lotus

Despite the sad fact that #Lotus is a huge
disappointment in sales, with the lowest first week sales of Christina
Aguilera’s career, for me it is the ultimate album of 2012 and another
respectful masterpiece of my number one singer, Kween Xtina!

1. Lotus Intro
2. Army Of Me
3. Red Hot Kinda Love
4. Make The World Move ft. Cee Lo Green
5. Your Body
6. Let There Be Love
7. Sing For Me
8. Blank Page
9. Cease Fire
10. Around The World
11. Circles
12. Best Of Me
13. Just A Fool ft. Blake Shelton
14. Light Up The Sky (Deluxe Edition)
15. Empty Words (Deluxe Edition)
16. Your Body (Martin Garrix Remix) (Deluxe Edition)

After her experimental era of #Bionic,
which was another downfall in Xtina’s 20 years long career and where she tried
collaborating with back then underground singers, songwriters and producers
such as Sia and Nicki Minaj and going into more of futuristic sound of pop, one
the best vocalists of the generation decided to go back to routs and deliver
evolved #Stripped album. And that’s exactly what #Lotus is, a collection of pop
songs that very directly showcase what Christina started to represent in #Stripped
era but also what has evolved with clear influences of #BackToBasics and
#Bionic eras. A true fan of Christina Aguilera will completely fall for this
album and enjoy it from the intro till the last deluxe song, because it
contains all the qualities of pop diva: fun&sexy song, break-up ballades,
empowering anthems, love songs , in-your-face sassiness and of course humongous
deal of oversinging proving that she still knows how to use her pipes.
The album starts with Lotus Intro that introduces the whole theme of the album,
unbreakable flower that survives all kinds of difficult conditions and is also
one of the many empowering anthems of the LP. It continues with another
empowering anthem Army Of Me, which is
a clear #Figther2.0, what was also confirmed by the singer herself. It’s a
fabulous record that will fill you with confidence and power to overcome dark
times. In this category I’d also put a funky pop blast Make The World Move, which feels like reminisce of #BackToBasic
spiced-up by magical and groovy Cee Lo Green’s vocal. To this group I would put
ballades Sing For Me and Empty Words. Both deliver wonderful
message she already portrayed through #Beautiful, they are simple on the melody
and production, however Xtina doesn’t fail stretching her notes with her pipes
to the maximum.
For all broken-hearted there are also three
excruciatingly beautiful break-up songs: Blank Page
aka #Hurt2.0, Best Of Me and brilliantly done country pop duet with no other but
CMA male vocalist of the year Blake Shelton, Just A Fool, which also happens to
be second single of the album. With its very literal
lyrics and catchy melody should be a true hit in no time.
There are also love songs with more
positive message such as Light Up The Sky and Cease Fire, of which the latter is
a wonderful song about ending all the important small quarrels that may bring
even the strongest relationship to end and standing together against all
external obstacles that may occur. The song starts weakly but grows stronger
with every verse and reaches its top with catchy break full of drum and Xtina’s
listing reasons and steps to stop the unnecessary war of the relationship.
What would Aguilera’s album be without her
fun and sexy songs that bring great energy, joy, will make you dance and just
feel good. All these feelings are brought to you by Red Hot Kinda Love, a great
experimental funky pop track with influences from #Bionic era. Then we are
served with two Max Martin’s or so called pop-hit-maker’s dance anthems Let There Be Love and Your Body, which was also the first not so well received
single from the album. We cannot leave out the category catchy pop track Around The World,
which is perfect for singing with it in the car and occasional shoulder move.
The last but not least is the category that
I love to receive so much from Xtina (beside the deep expressive lyrical ballades)
are the cheeky and in-your-face songs that will most definitely make you giggle
but at the same time sing along and completely agree with the lyrics. Circles
and Shut Up are exactly that with clear message to all the haters to go and
screw themselves.
All in all for me #Lotus sums to the album
of the year and will make me rape repeat button for so many more times in the
future and I already look forward to it!
The must-get-single-treatments are #ArmyOfMe,
#BlankPage, #MakeTheWorldMove, #LetThereBeLove and #Circles.
