Another day, another mother-daughter ad campaign. Just like a high end version of Take Your Daughters to Work Day, it seems that generational twosomes are de rigeur for brands looking to bring a sense of warmth and agelessness to their campaigns. This week we had Georgia May Jagger and Jerry Hall pairing up again for The Sunglasses Hut. The mother daughter duo combined their star power last year for H&M and this time around have been photographed sporting some seriously cool shades.
Of course its not only Jerry and Georgia rocking family style, with several notable pairings of mothers and daughters cropping up of late. Take Cindy Crawford and her daughter Kaia Gerber who starred alongside Crawford’s mother for JC Penney’s Mother’s Day campaign earlier in the year. Or Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio who starred in London Fog’s A/W 2012-13 adverts with her daughter Anja.
Of course it makes perfect sense that mother and daughter pairings would work. Who better to take career tips from than your mum – especially if you have inherited her model genes. The new mother- daughter combo we’d love to see model together is Kristen McMenamy and her daughter, hot new face Lily. As a favourite of Saint Laurent’s Hedi Slimane, Lily looks set to become one of the biggest names of 2013 and Kristen continues to be one of the coolest women on the planet.
But we reckon while its great to model with your mum, its not all roses. Georgia May explained the cons to working with your parent to WWD, saying, “Mom’s such a good model I always get nervous about shooting with her.” Plus there would be no diva behaviour with your mum on hand to make sure you behave, or flirting with the sexy Photographer’s Assistant!
